We have all heard the mantra of “Location, Location, Location.” As the key to success for a wide variety of businesses, especially restaurants.
As my wife and I traveled around the world over the past 60 years, it was always surprising for us to find great restaurants in seemingly terrible locations. The conclusion is that while a great location can enhance the popularity of a restaurant, it is not the key component of success.
The next thing you might think is key, is competitive pricing. While having the lowest price around is certainly a competitive strategy, it usually leads to financial disaster. Many low-price restaurants are no longer in business. In fact, the most successful restaurants are rarely the lowest priced.
This upcoming book names Names. I will highlight some of the most successful restaurants and talk about some that didn’t survive and why. What makes a great burger, Who delivers the best steaks, and who provides consistently good service visit after visit. If you enjoy eating out and you enjoy traveling, or you are a struggling restaurant owner, you are going to want to read this book.
Anticipated publishing date is November 2026. Stay tuned.
Note: if you have a favorite place drop me a line, maybe I can include it in my research.
